Welcome to San Patricio County!

  San Patricio County is on the lower Gulf Coast in the Coastal Prairies region. Sinton, the county seat, is just northeast of the center of the county sixteen miles north of Corpus Christi.

San Patricio County was established in 1836 by the Congress of the new Republic of Texas and covers 693 square miles of generally flat land with tall prairie grasses spotted by mesquite and live oak trees. Most of the county lies in the coastal plain, but in the far western area the surface is rolling with some caliche hills; elevations range from sea level to 200 feet. Soils are generally well suited for field crop and grass production.

San Patricio County has a mild, moist climate, with an average annual rainfall of thrity-one inches. Temperatures range from an average low of 46 degrees F in January to an average high of 93 degrees F in July. The average growing season lasts 303 days.

Texas AgriLife Extension Service in San Patricio County provides research-based information directly to the people and is the vital link between research and its practical application in the lives and concerns of Texans. Extension staff are dedicated to improving the quality of life for the residents of San Patricio County. Extension brings the resources of the Texas A&M University System to San Patricio County. Through local based faculty, Extension provides unbiased, research-based information, educational programs, and technical assistance in the following core service areas:
